WBSJ Kamon Pattern Masking Tape

Kamon are traditional family logos of Japan.  First appearing in the Heian period (795 - 1185), the symbols were originally the preserve of the aristocracy, before being gradually adopted by almost all families in Japan.  An early form of graphic design, kamon have been an inspiration to many around the world since, with the patterns of Louis Vuitton bags a prominent example.

Birds are a recurrent feature of Japan’s visual arts, and in this kamon are no different.  The appreciation of birds through the ages can be seen in the designs collected on these Wild Bird Society of Japan masking tapes.  These include impressions of cranes, geese, sparrows, hawks and others.

The tapes are 15mm wide, and are available in two colour series: Burgundy and Navy.

Each roll includes 10m of tape.
